Once a cotton plantation and then a bird sanctuary, James Ingram, the owner, named the island after the Bird of Paradise which he began breeding there. We get to the island on a glass bottomed boat via the Japanese Garden and Angel Reef, both teeming with exotic fish and marine life. This reef also boasts of having the world’s largest brain coral. Snorkeling gear is provided for those who may want a fish’s eye view of this underwater paradise. While on the island you can also see the magnificent frigate birds in their aerodynamic feats to steal the catch of the red billed tropic birds. This little paradise boasts of having about forty species of birds with some unique pelagic species.
