We travel east to the old French settlement of Lopinot. Established in 1806 by Joseph Charles (Count de Lopinot) the La Reconnaissance Estate and environs were later collectively considered as the village of Lopinot. Here some of the 19th century architecture, heritage, culture and charm still exists in balance with the modern amenities found in the rest of Trinidad and Tobago. Community tourism including accommodation, dining, chocolate production and other cottage industries drive its internal economics, with additional eco and adventure opportunities such as birdwatching, hiking and cave exploration. Single and multi-day experiences await in Lopinot, depending on your preference.
